Makes one 9" round cake
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup butter (salted)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4-1/2 cup whole milk
- large McIntosh apple chopped 1/4 " dice
- Combine flour and baking powder. Stir to combine. Blend in butter until it resembles coarse corn meal. Stir in one cup of sugar, egg, and enough milk to form a soft dough. Spread half the batter/dough in a buttered, nine inch baking pan. Place apples on top of batter/dough. Top apples with 1 tablespoon sugar. Top with rest of dough/batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes until golden.
