Since the age of 19 when I was first diagnosed with a serious case of auto-immune glandular fever I have had a deep respect for the healing powers of raw unrefined plant based foods. Initially I was put on a grape fast by Dr Shyam Singha who was a well known naturopath. The power of the grape fast and then a strict raw food diet after the fast for 1 month changed my whole outlook on life. I eat an 80% raw diet allowing myself that 20% for family meals and occasional slip ups - the last thing I want is an eating disorder! As we age I think it's important to help our bodies with raw digestive enzymes which can be found in plant based foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees fahrenheit.
