Hello, my name is Shayma. I am an internationally published food writer, food photographer and stylist, cook, cookery teacher, public speaker and storyteller. I am a Pakistani-Afghan-Persian who grew up in Pakistan, the US, the UK, Nigeria, Kenya, Bangladesh and recently moved to Canada after living and working in Italy for several years.
I believe that in cookery, there should be no borders. I want to demystify food from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran - an area I refer to as the Silk Route - and inspire you to make the food I grew up eating. I also want you to see a different side of an often misunderstood region of the world.
