When you move away from the greater New York area where culture is handed to you on a silver platter, you have to make your own. That means loving your kitchen, the local farm market, your messy backyard garden, your bicycle, Netflix and Amazon. It also means always taking a cooler with you when you visit civilization. I don't do red meat, baby animal meat or fast food franchises. Unfortunately, the list of my husband's allergies (shellfish!) and biases is longer, but we dine well every night and pack interesting lunches. A friend in VA and I email daily, mostly about cooking.
