About This Cook

I began to cook when I came to this country . Julia Child was my absolute favorite and I loved preparing her recipes . When my husband and I first met we cooked duck a la orange at a friends house. When I was teaching school food was part of my teaching style. Concentrating is difficult when you are hungry and cooking with children was always fun, even if it was just stuffing celery with peanut butter and making animals by adding raisins and nuts. Because I am a native of Germany for Christmas we would make little individual gingerbread house onarments from graham crackers. I remember cutting graham crackers in the middle of the night , lots of broken crackers. We used icing to glue them together and decorated them with candy . During all those years of teaching I introduced the children to many different kinds of food. I enjoy cooking for friends and family , trying out new recipes, and sharing a meal together.
