Please, please would you divulge the maker or source for the glass used in the bottom photo, second from the right? It's so beautiful and functional. I've been coveting it and must track it down. Cheers!

My favorite cocktail happened at the very posh Holiday Inn in Panama City in 1979. It was the most perfectly crafted Bacardi cocktail I had ever had and still haven't matched. Tall and frosty with just a blush of very good Grenadine at the bottom.

Vieux Carre. Bitter, sweet and serious - also seriously life-changing when aged in a barrel.

Manhattan - up - made with High West Double Rye, Vya Sweet Vermouth, a dash of Bittercube Orange Bitters, and a Luxardo Cherry for garnish. There is nothing else like it that says "The weekend is here!"

Gin Snaggler from Pizzaiolo in Oakland. It's made with gin, lime juice, mint leaves, cucumber, simple syrup and Prosecco. It's the perfect drink for a hot summer evening or a crisp Fall day. Simple, refreshing and delicious!

Man, this book does look cool. Nice writeup on it! I would enjoy reading it, I think, and then recommending to bar-loving friends.
And now I need a G&T in my mouth.

I would love to learn on how to mix drinks. I am always entertaining and I always make the same drinks. I always stick to safe drinks like a martini, margarita, or beer. I need to shake it up a little and learn how to do better drinks.

I had a simple but delicious drink that I couldn't get enough of at Gracie's restaurant in RI. There was no name. The bartender made it after hearing my new found love for Bully Boy white whiskey. Bully Boy, fresh lemon, homemade lavender bitters...And one thing I'm not in the know about!

You seriously cannot go wrong with a New York Sour. Whiskey sour + red wine floater = makings of a stellar night.

My favorite cocktail ever? Back in '92, my college roommate dragged me to a party at some random apartment, where this guy was making cocktails from scratch. He handed me a whiskey sour unlike anything I'd ever tasted. That was the exact moment that I realized there was more out there than the cheap beer, lukewarm red wine from a box and sticky premade cocktail mixes that college parties were made of. Wish I knew who that guy was, because I owe him a huge thanks!

I was visiting Blenheim, which is Winston Churchill ' s family home with a friend of mine. And we entered the gift shop where we were met by a woman with a silver tray filled with shots of a mysterious looking concoction. There was a bottle of Irish whiskey on the tray as well and she said, "Please try one." We asked what we're in the shot glasses and she said "Irish whiskey, cream and honey all in equal parts". Whether it was our excitement at having something unexpected or simply free , the mixture was so delightful that we almost purchased a bottle of Irish whiskey in hopes of re-creating the drink with friends later that night. Overall, delicious and very comforting.

My favorite? A "Painkiller" made at the famous Soggy Dollar - a little beach bar at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke in the BVI's! They make them with Pussers Rum and come in 1,2,3 or 4 - according to what strength you want. You cannot take your boat into the beach, you have to either swim or take a dingy- hence the "soggy dollar"! And a Painkiller with the local coconut and pineapple is just the refreshment you need after a day on the water.

I'd love this book! I make a mix between a Mnhattan and a Whiskey Mac. I call it a MacHattan! 2 parts Rye, 1/2 sweet vermouth, dash of scrappys orange bitters, dash of artisanal Ginger Syrup (some friends brought me some from Brooklyn), top with Stones Ginger Wine and a dried or burnt orange peel. Love it. In fact, I think I'll have one now.

I absolutely love books like this! For me, it's not all about the recipes but the stories behind them. I think sometimes I spend more time reading cookbooks than reading regular books. :) And then, of course, I have to go to the kitchen immediately!

My most favourite cocktail in the world is perhaps a Brandy Alexander. I had one for the first time at Death and Company, when I asked the bartender for something "creamy, spiced, and rich." I still order one every time I'm in town – so good.

At the end of summer, beginning of fall, I love a Pimm's Cup. Simple, sweet but not cloying, and easy enough for everybody to make at home. I suspect I'd find a new favorite in this book though!

A last word used to be my go to but for an easy evening, an old fashioned. I went to death and co years ago on my 22nd bday and dragged all my friends along. As college students, they were not amused by the over priced fancy drinks...but now a days we all have a much better appreciation for good spirits and perfectly crafted drinks.

Fortunately this is a hypothetical question, so for favorite it will be a simple yet well constructed rye old fashioned. Just enough sweet to balance the spice of a good rye. The bitters and citrus twist to round it out over a big rock.

The best is a shot of vodka, a shot of white chocolate liquor....over ice.
Then fill the glass half and half with grapefruit juice and pommagranite juice
Or a bloody Caesar of coarse.. But light.. Not regular
Add 1/4 volume of ginger ale and 3/4 clamato with a generous squish of fresh lemon with the celery salt, Lea & perrins and shake or two of hot sauce.. Heaven
