The easiest Not Sad Desk Lunch of all? It's one of Merrill's favorites: Slice up a couple of peaches or a cantaloupe and simply wrap with prosciutto. Take a break from emails, lean back in your desk chair, and eat with your fingers. The best part? You'll have leftover fruit and prosciutto in the office fridge, ready for tomorrow's Not Sad Desk Lunch.

This is a great opportunity to drizzle a few drops of that really nice balsamic that your friend brought you back from Italy - you know, the one in a bottle about the size of your standard nail polish.

I am still hoping that Food52 will take a leadership role in perhaps starting a new trend of "not at my desk lunch." Well, seriously, it's not new at all. I've been ranting about this for several years. Did you know that in many businesses where people work at desks, the senior decision makers view anyone who eats lunch at their desk as "not going anywhere," meaning "not likely to advance very far, if at all"? Just something to keep in mind.

Also, if you're eating at your desk, you're not getting mentored or mentoring someone else. What a shame. ;o)
