18 of Our Favorite Times Cereal Bowled Us Over

August 26, 2015

I walked by Kith on my way home last week—and I had absolutely no idea what it was. Workers were in the finishing stages of touching up the glossy white walls, polishing the big windows, and stocking the cereal bar. The cereal bar! The store has a small street-facing service window so you can line up on the sidewalk outside the store for a bowl of cereal with milk (or, reports Refinery29, ice cream) like you would at a beach bar. The kicker? Kith is a sneaker store. A sneaker store that also happens to sell cereal.

Kith opened this morning, and now all we can think about is how much we love cereal. Here are 18 crispy (and mushy) recipes in which our favorite breakfast cereals surprise us:

I use half cornflakes, half saltines for the crust in Jim Smith's Atlantic Beach Pie (a Genius recipe), reducing the sugar to 2 tablespoons and using turbinado sugar instead. I'm thinking about trying it with Ritz crackers instead of saltines, same combination, next time . . . . but even though that recipe has "beach" in the name, seriously, it's a winter dessert, so I won't be trying it until then.

incidentally, Kith has nothing on Deus Ex Machina in Venice CA when it comes to snack-while-shopping brilliance. https://instagram.com/p/68PKM4mB2h/?taken-by=howmothercooks ;o)
