What's for Lunch, Dot? Again!

There are thousands of cooking blogs -- we bring you highlights from the best.

Way back when we were in our infancy, we featured Meredith Shanley's blog What's for Lunch, Dot. A food52 winner (Meredith Shanley on food52), she has continued posting great recipes on her blog, and we think it deserves another look. Meredith, a private chef and caterer, is hilarious ("Note that I don’t use any nuts in my brownies.  Frankly, by the time they’re done and cooled, I’m pretty much a woman on the verge and I want nothing standing between me and my chocolate fix.") Her writing makes you wish you were in the kitchen along side her, listening to the commentary and eating the food. She often has an eye toward healthier recipes (updating her beloved Buffalo wings to make a satisfying, sandwich that skips the frying and uses less butter and mayo) but knows when it's appropriate to indulge (see her Fudgey Brownies. Yowza.) And as a private chef/ caterer who is also a true home cook, she always has a helpful hint or two buried in the recipes. We love her blog, and you will too. -Helen

Food52 (we cook 52 weeks a year, get it?) is a food and home brand, here to help you eat thoughtfully and live joyfully.

Meredith IS hilarious. I saw her demo a dish recently and she is also camera-ready -- get this woman a cooking show! By the way, her panzanella salad is fabulous and transports me right back to summer.
