As you may know already, we at Food52 like to get the party started. (We even devote entire recipe contests towards that goal.) We’re lucky, then, to have a cook aptly named Half-Buzzed Hostess, a former magazine editor-turned-freelance-writer who can surely help us on our noble quest. Half-Buzzed Hostess is filled with menus and entertaining know-how that, in her words, “won’t keep you slaving over the stove while your guests bathe in bubbly.” This is a mantra we can get behind – a mantra that’s worth a toast itself.
True to form, Half-Buzzed Hostess’ recipes are perfect for any hostess – one half-buzzed or not. Her Paprika-Scented Manchego Chorizo Puffs (pictured above) were adopted into the Food52 repertoire at our first bite; we couldn’t think of a more perfect cocktail-party snack. Her Ooey Gooey Pumpkin Fondue just begs for communal eating, practically guarantees a group of guests huddled over it, fighting for that last, cheesy bite. For an elegant dinner party, her Savory Squash Soup with Parmesan Croutons and Roasted Butternut Squash Salad would make lovely (and stress-free!) appetizers – and pair perfectly with a glass of that aforementioned bubbly. No matter what the occasion – a cocktail party, dinner party, all things in between – when the night is capped with some Homemade Limoncello, we’ll be happy to have had a Half-Buzzed Hostess.
