Phew! NPR Says Food Porn Is Okay

We're pretty relieved that the results of NPR's recent online poll, "Are Your Friends Bombarding You With 'Food Porn'?", came out in favor of the more camera happy cooks amongst us — nearly 50% of respondents said it was cool to see snaps of their friend's meals. Naturally there are a few exceptions, with commenters calling out flash photography during dinner and Cornflake Portraiture, but overall it was very live-and-let-live. This remark from Venetucci Harvey particularly resonates: "I also realized the more I talked about food and flavors, the more I could appreciate the food I was eating. The same went for photos — the more I was able to create aesthetically pleasing arrangements and color combinations, the better the food seemed to taste."

Overall, the takeaway seems to align with anything else we've learned about stuff we put on the internet: use discretion, space it out, and make sure it looks good. Now back to Instagram.

Cassie loves to cook, eat, and then write about it. She can't resist anything with sweet potatoes, but if she had to pick one food for the rest of her life it might be avocado. (She changes her mind a lot.) She also believes that anything will taste better on a tortilla, and that tacos are the premier food of summertime. You can catch her reading Calvin & Hobbes on the stoop of her apartment, or on the roof in her garden. Say hello!
