Seeing Green

September 19, 2012

We’ve got something new for you to add to your farmer’s market list: tatsoi. There have been a lot of greens around here lately, but for your next meal, forego the arugula and fill up your salad bowls with this Asian leafy green instead.

Technically a member of the brassica family, tatsoi is a distant relative of broccoli, and has a slight bite of mustard flavor. It makes for great variety in a salad mix, but also holds up well in stir-fries. Find heads of tatsoi at your local greenmarket, or look for the loose-leaf version in larger grocery stores.
