Because us dads, we like our meat. In fact, it's all we eat. All the time.

But seriously, what a boring, predictable and really somewhat patronizing selection. Ribs. Pork chops. Pizza. Because that's what men are supposed to like. In 1954.

I'd say the men who frequent food52 today, and cook with love, knowledge and enthusiasm, deserve better than this.

Really?? I missed the ingredient of meat in two of the recipes, the pizza and the ravioli. I think all the recipes including the ones with meat are delicious, easy to make and perfect for father's day and other occasions.

I didn't say they weren't delicious. My complaint, if it can be called that, was that these recipes strike me as being unimaginative and pandering to stereotypes.

I think that Mother's Day and Father's Day are designed to pander to stereotypes. The children are supposed to make breakfast for mom and a masculine meal for dad. We love stereotypes...isn't dad always the one with the fork and beer manning the BBQ?

With pork shoulder a good price I've been doing slow cooked pork quite a bit lately, so I'm afraid it wouldn't be a treat at my place this year despite the fact that he does like it. Paella is well appreciated and hasn't been made for awhile (like a year or more) so might be a better selection here. Just ideas for those folks who don't have plans yet!
