No Recipes

There are thousands of cooking blogs-- we bring you highlights from the best.

At No Recipes, Marc Matsumoto discourages blindly following recipes in favor of embracing technique, inspiration, and ingredients. Lucky for us, he then writes recipes that reflect his experiments, with commentary that usually includes the oft-overlooked history of the dish. His most recent experiment, the ubiquitous California Roll, sheds new light on this pseudo-sushi favorite, and through detailed photos and instructions, encourages you to try rolling your own sushi. He even manages to make experiments such as Bacon and Bourbon Pie seem intensely appealing. Check it out- there's always something to learn at his site! -Helen

Hurray for "No Recipes"! Cooking should be creative whether you enjoy it or not. A recipe should be viewed as a suggestion, with adjustments made for individual taste, nutrition and/or ease of preparation. That's my philosophy, which is showcased in The Lazy Cook Crazy Cook vlog.
