I meant to buy rutabagas but ended up with jerusalem artichokes instead. Are they anything alike? What can I make with them?

You can treat the jerusalem artichoke the same as a potato. Wash and dry, then toss with EVO, salt, pepper. Roast on a sheet pan in a 350/400 oven until fork tender. Reseason and serve.

rutabagas are closer to a turnip in taste but more bland
the j artichokes have a distinct flavour
both can be a similar consistency, and not very appetizing if over cooked
roasted they are ok
shredded raw they are tasty in salads and slaws
