Classy football foods? Help!

My husband watches football with an organic farmer, a butcher and a chef. I need some good ideas for gameday foods.

I love making foods that represent the teams you're watching! For a New York Giants game, serving bagel chips along with dip is great. For the New England Patriots, try making some new england clam chowder. Miami Dolphins game, mini cuban sandwiches. San Francisco 49rs game, sourdough crostini. New Orleans Saints game, beignets. Dallas Cowboys game, texas chili. The options are endless!

Oh how about some gourmet deviilled eggs! With some truffle oil, or wasabi, caviar on top!

Make some country pâté and maybe a veg terrine! You could also quick pickle baby veg and green beans! Add a chile to it to spice it up!

Our favorite game day treat is Stromboli. It's always a crowd favorite and it's still good after sitting out for a while. Sometimes I use frozen dough and it comes out just fine. Also, you can make it ahead of time and then just slice, heat and serve.

I was planning to make the mashed potato stuffed mushrooms on this site. http://www.food52.com/recipes/15274_mashed_potato_stuffed_mushrooms Also the onion dip here is awesome, even my husband, whose trashy food secret is an addiction to Dean's French onion dip, told me he would take this one any day over the Dean's. http://www.food52.com/recipes/8902_caramelized_onion_dip A crab dip is always a winner or shrimp cocktail.

Nachos with shredded duck, chicken lolipops, short rib sliders...

These look fantastic. http://www.food52.com/recipes/6845_kfc_korean_fried_chicken_wings
and have great reviews here.

Scotch eggs are also great as a snack food with beer. Although I tend to bake mine instead of frying.
simple tech. You take some prepared sausage, boiled and peeled eggs. And roll out some sausage disks and wrap the eggs in that and then a dusting of bread crumbs and bake until the sausage is done. Cool and cut into quarters.

Now for super 'fancy". Steamy Kitchen's Firecracker shrimp. I rarely get these out of the kitchen before they're gone.

To add another level to firecracker shrimp recipe. I didn't have spring wrappers and made some savory crepes---very(very) thin, with a bit of green onion. And wrapped those around the shrimp...and fried.
Wow, it was a bit of work but well worth it in taste.

OK, if you are a patriot fan, I would make Chef Jason's great New England burger, maybe a a slider version:

Personally, I would want oysters mignonette with champagne. I remember testing this great recipe:

Good luck. And let us know what you decide!

About a year ago there was a contest titled "your best open house dish." I can personally attest to the deliciousness of the winner and the runner up. There were 250 entries. Have fun:

This is so funny, the joke around here is we say bacon itself is an appetizer. Once we had a burger party and set out all the toppings ahead of time. Most of the bacon was gone before the burgers had a chance to get off of the grill. Sometime I'm going to try this, cook 2-3 lbs. of bacon and serve it in a mint julep cup.

This sounds like a set up for a joke. Having said that it is a football game after all. Wings, sausages, ribs, and maybe some brownies for dessert. Give them a lot of beer and they should be happy.

Just remember, the organic farmer will want good quality pastured meat, the butcher will notice if the meat is properly cut and the chef is just going to be so darned happy that someone else is cooking! I totally agree with jmburns, go for the basics, if you splurge on the quality the simplest treats are often unbeatable!
