Thanks all for the response. I didn't want to make a cardinal sin and pair the gnocchi with something that would be sacrilegious.

What I would do (and have done) with gnocchi as the focus is to grill some radicchio. You can do that indoors or out. The Treviso, the longish one, is best suited. But the Chioggia also works. Cut in half longitudinally and brush with oil. You can also wrap it in pancetta but as the gnocchi is pretty rich already I'd probably skip that.

I love serving gnocchi with simply grilled meats--like a skirt steak rubbed with salt and garlic and brushed with balsamic vinegar.

I would probably just make a nice big salad to go with it!
