You may find a section of 'sprouting seeds' in the store. Alfalfa is easy and probably the most common. I like clover -- the seeds are a little bigger than alfalfa and the sprout it a little thicker, crunchier. There are a number of beans popular for sprouting, especially mung. Mung sprout from home will not be as long and fat as the commercial ones, which are sort of force fed. Usual rule with beans is to let the shoot grow about as long as the bean. Lentils, chickpeas and soybeans sprout well. Caution with soybeans -- they have to be cooked before eating.
