Can I use an egg right out of the refrigerator to my cookie batter?

5 minutes in a bowl of warm (not hot!) water will take the chill off it.

Unless the recipe says that the egg needs to be at room temperature, it should be okay. You can always warm up the egg in a bowl of warm water first too.
