A question about a recipe: Sri Lankan Masur Dal with Tamarind, Curry Leaves & Coconut Milk

I have a question about the recipe "Sri Lankan Masur Dal with Tamarind, Curry Leaves & Coconut Milk" from onetribegourmet. Can I make this without the curry leaves? The closest curry leaves are almost two hour drive away but this sounds delicious. I do have all the other ingredients.

I've made thiswithout curry leaves and it was delicious. Add some fresh cilantro, coarsely chopped, at the end. I used a bay leaf, too, added with the dal, when I made this. ;o)
