I need dehydrated cumquats for a christmas pudding. What could I substitute them for (not mixed peel)?

maybe dried apricots? prunes? the apricots would be tangy, the prunes would be a little moist (dehydrated kumquats, i'm thinking, would be tangy and still a little moist), figs if that wouldn't be too heavy, with some candied orange peel, dried cherries or cranberries. I also just met some delicious raisins (and two raisin makers) at the New Amsterdam Market. They're called Little Wrinkles, I think, artisanal raisins made in Brooklyn, and AMAZING! http://www.littlewrinkles.com/ They also sell Jamaican Black Cake made with their dried fruit.

It shouldn't be a problem to substitute other dried fruits / rinds for kumquats for your Christmas pudding. Orange, tangerine or lemon. Kumquats are nice but not worth worrying about.
