I do the same as Cynthia. I just froze a big batch of cooked wheatberries that i can add to soups and grain dishes with ease. I don't know if you live in the U.S. and have a Trader Joe's near you, but they sell a frozen quinoa and butternut squash mix that is very tasty.
When cooking any kind of grain or bean, I always make more than I need at the moment and freeze the rest.
