You could meet for brunch at The City Bakery on 18th St near Union Square. It's cafeteria style and casual but has great food-- pretzel croissants, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, cooked cereal, huge salad bar with produce from the Union Square Farmer's Market...

Love Saxon and Parole. Also Fonda on Avenue B between 3rd & 4th. Excellent authentic Mexican food, and a great brunch deal. The Huevos Rancheros and Divorciados are fabulous.

@ChezHenry: I agree, Prune is great! It's actually one of my favorite places in the city. Haven't been to Lafayette, the place looks really nice for sure.

I'm adding my own 2 cents with Saxon and Parole and DBGB for downtown brunch spots.

I agree with Blue Fin, but also would put in a couple tourist traps like Stage Door Deli, Carnegies, and Carmine's ... all in the theatre district. Walk up a bit and Helmsleys Hotel serves a nice (snooty) lunch.
And, nothing wrong with a food truck or a Papaya hotdog.

I live in Greenwich Village, and will offer up three spots. Cafe Loup has a great Jazz Brunch on sundays. Prune is Gabrielle Hamiltons tiny yet great cafe-brunch is their specialty. Lafayette for a cool ambience tht will transport you to Paris.

I know this will sound weird, but one of the best meals I've ever had in NYC was breakfast/brunch at a seafood restaurant. Blue Fin in the W Hotel right in Times Square. It's expensive, but totally worth it. The lower level is loud, but the upstairs mezzanine is quiet. I still dream about this breakfast. Everything was perfect. The eggs, the oatmeal sampler, the thick bacon, the coffee. It was all superb. Service was excellent. Here's a link to their menu: http://www.zagat.com/r/blue-fin-new-york/menu

Hmm, can you be more specific? Do you mean just Manhattan? Or including other boroughs? Price point?
