Snickerdoodles are one of my very favorite cookies! To make and/or eat a perfect one is way too rare. Why someone would add shortening is completely beyond me - this is a cookie that tastes truly of its ingredients - if your cinnamon is old or your butter tastes of fridge or if your salt is bitter - your Snickerdoodle will suffer. I don't mean to shamelessly promote, but this recipe is a winner, I promise!

Use the "buttery snickerdoodle" recipe on King Arthur flour Recipes site..you can make them chewy , crunchy or crispy by adjusting the baking time

Try substituting coconut oil for the shortening.

From the Baked Elements cookbook. These are the snicker doodles to end all other variations. They are that good. They use brown butter which may make you think its a little too complicated/ extra clean up (I know I did) but honestly the recipe is very simple and seriously worth it. Happy baking!
