I have a question about the recipe "Peach Tart" from Amanda Hesser. Can I substitute the butter with anything? Is it entirely necessary?

I have successfully substituted coconut butter (high quality stuff, usually organic) for milk butter in baking. Use 1:1. Or make a mixture of 2/3 coconut butter & 1/3 coconut oil.
