A question about a recipe: Extra Tender Meatballs

E6fe3a9d 7e73 4813 9c22 fd067c074829 meatballs

I have a question about the recipe "Extra Tender Meatballs" from Merrill Stubbs. Can I substitute an alternative flour say almond meal or coconut flour and if so how much?

Afraid I haven't tried a substitution like this. Hopefully someone else with experience will weigh in!

Do you mean instead of the breadcrumbs? Is it gluten that you are trying to avoid? You could use a gluten free bread crumb if thats the case. I once subbed barley flour for breadcrumbs in a chicken loaf and it was ok but a bit gummy a different texture.

Almond meal (not flour) would be a good sub. Coconut flour absorbs way too much liquid.
