I have a question about the recipe "Broccoli, Lemon, and Parmesan Soup" from Merrill Stubbs. Should I discard the cooking water from the broccoli?

If you'd like, you can use it instead of some or all of the chicken stock in the recipe.

thank you! I was unclear whether the olive oil and garlic were meant to be added to the pot after the cooking water has been discarded. makes sense now!
