I'm going to a Father's Day cookout with my grandfather. His teeth are a bit sensitive right now -- any suggestions for a softer side dish?

deviled eggs? a tomato, mozzarella, basil salad? cut up fruit or roasted asparagus with prosciutto? twice baked potatoes in foil?

Baked beans would work. They can be very flavorful and would have a nice soft texture. If it's a problem for him to eat meat you could simmer some chopped bacon or pork belly until it's tender in the beans. They can also be served at room temperature if hot and cold are a problem.
Watermelon with feta, a little salt, and some mint might be refreshing.

If cold food is ok, try gazpacho or guacamole.

Polenta is great. Lots of recipes on this site in the Recipe section.

How about macaroni salad? My mom has always made it with mayo, black olives, pimentos, green onions, plenty of salt and pepper. It's simple and so good.

Are his teeth more sensitive to hot and cold or crunchy food? How about a pasta salad or potato salad? Add some lemon and dill to the potato salad to make it extra summery! :-)
