What is your favorite substitute fruit combination for Amanda Hesser's Peach Tart?

No ripe peaches at the market.  What variations on this tart have you made and loved?

Plums are my absolute favorite, but I've also used sour cherries, apricots, and blueberries with great success. Apples not so much.
