Tilapia is indoor farmed in the UK without the mud http://aquaculturedirectory.co.uk/lincolnshire-home-to-sustainably-farmed-tilapia/ and is perfect for many Asian fish dishes http://www.vazhayila.com/2010/07/cumin-rice-and-masala-fried-tilapia.html
Dont blame the creature blame the way humans rear it.

I'm with all of you who've commented negatively about tilapia. On top of all the other reasons not to eat it, tilapia is not tasty no matter how you season it. I'm always amazed that anyone would eat it.

It needs all the help it can get- serving with a Pico de Gallo type salsa might be a good way to go.

Are you sold on tilapia, or are you open to other mild flavored fish? I'm asking because tilapia is is an unsustainably farmed fish that is not good for the environment. And the farming practices used for this fish makes their healthfulness suspect. Sole, flounder, whiting, ocean perch: there are many alternatives that are better for you and the earth - not to mention that they also taste better!
Flavorings for mild white fish? I like to blend breadcrumbs with garlic and herbs and make a crust. Use whatever herbs you like best.

I’m glad you wrote this. I wouldn’t touch tilapia--there are so many better choices.

Me 3, I am a very unfussy eater and not phobic at all but I have not eaten tilapia since seeing a tv show on how it is raised.

It's not just the appalling farming practices that turn me off Tilapia, but also the terrible taste of muddy pond bottom.

Thank you for your reply! I will definitely stay away from tilapia with this new information.
