Depends upon what you are going to do with the chicken once it's boiled. It would be helpful if you could be more specific.

If you are making soup, use about 1 liter per 1/2 kg of chicken.
If you are braising the chicken, use that or lesser amount.
Taste in salt varies tremendously. You can omit it entirely and salt the dish when eating. Or start with 1 tsp for the whole pot, and adjust (add more if desired) at the end of the boiling.

PS Make that 5 gram or 5 ml of salt, if you are operating in metric.
