They're pretty interchangeable in cake recipes. What kind of cake is it?

If the cake is meant to have a lighter, airy texture then I'd say yes. If it's meant to be a denser structure than all purpose flour might be better. But generally I'd think cake flour for a cake should work out - though I'm more of a bread baker than a cake baker.
