Not unless your oven has multiple/extra heating elements that kick on in response to increased demand.

I think what MMH was getting at was: there's nobody who could tell you how your oven is going to perform. Frankly, I don't know if that's how it would work. Seems reasonable, but the only way to find out it to perform a simple test. And all the better if you get to educate someone with the results.

In my opinion, even if it was faster, it would be easy to overshoot the mark and then you just have to wait for it to come back down....which usually takes longer than heating up.

Every oven is different. It's always a good idea to have an oven thermometer to validate the temp in your particular oven. This would be a very easy experiment to conduct on your own - especially if you have kids!
