Found a recipe for homemade accent (without the msg) but it's more than half salt by volume. On the other hand, the ingredient list resembles those for many barbecue rubs. Maybe pick up the paprika, onion etc from them, and use (separately) salt to taste?
Two recipes:

MSG adds umami; depth of flavor. There are several foods where it occurs naturally (tomatoes, mushrooms, soy or tamari sauce). Lately I have added small amounts of nutritional yeast to add depth of flavor when I make vegetarian meals. Although it has a bitter flavor on its own, it is not detectable when added in small amounts. Another possibility, when cooking dried beans for example, is to add a square of kombu kelp to the water they are boiled in. This adds the flavor you are looking for and also helps the beans cook more quickly,
Kombu is available in the Japanese foods section of many supermarkets.

Accent is monosodium glutamate often know as msg. It does enhance flavors but many people react badly to it, developing rashes etc. With that information you might be able to search for a substitute or make your own. Good luck.
