Butter for cookies?

I am a 1/2 butter stick short for a pre boxed cookie mix. How that affect the cookies?

If you have margarine, you can also use that instead of the butter.

What are the instructions on the box? How much butter is supposed to be added?

I havent used cookie mixes, but i imagine they will probably be quite a bit puffier/drier than intended. I would add 1/4 oil to compensate
