A question about a recipe: Chicken Nuggets with Warm Kimchi-Bacon Ranch Dip

I have a question about the recipe "Chicken Nuggets with Warm Kimchi-Bacon Ranch Dip" from Caroline Choe. If you're not making the spicy version of the nuggets, can you still make the dip, but without the kimchi? Or is the kimchi still needed for the sauce?

The kimchi is still need for the sauce. But/and if you don't want to make your own, many stores - especially if you have a Korean population near you - carry it in bottles.
