How do i store russian tea cakes?

After I bake the russian tea cakes, how should i store it and how long do they last? Should i put a piece of bread so they stay soft?

We always keep ours in an airtight container with waxed paper between the layers. No bread. They're fine for a couple of weeks, but best within about a week in my experience.
