I definitely think that's it -- and I messed up the first attempt at asking the question -- the text followed the tags. The ones my friend brought were definitely not phyllo-ish pastry but he said when his grandma makes them they are really flaky. The star player was definitely the cheese. I live in LA so I think I'll probably be able to find the cheese that you mention in your recipe. Thank you so much!
