a crispy onion question: can I make them in advance?

I was looking for techniques to crisp onion and the one in this recipe seems spot on to me! Does anyone have any other techniques they'd recommend? And will the crispy onions stay crispy if I cook them 2 days in advance and keep them at room temp?
