Hi, thanks for the question. I'd try a full fat plain Greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream. You may want to thin it with milk or water to get the right consistency. Alternatively, the cheesecake may be fine without the sour cream topping. Let me know if you try the cheesecake ~
Unsurprisingly someone in the comments used crème fraîche as a replacement for the sour cream. Scroll down to the April 19, 2014 comment: a German reader made the successful substitution. (American style sour cream is not marketed in Germany.)
