In last week's NY Times Food section, Melissa Clark had a great article about school lunches with some really creative sandwiches:

There was a food52 contest last year called "Your Best Brown Bag Lunch" where you might find some helpful ideas: http://www.food52.com/contests/176 ;o)

I just made a pasta salad that's been quite good.
Boil noodle of choice. Strain, let cool.
Roast some cherry tomatoes in olive oil with thyme, salt and pepper. Let cool.
Mix your noodles, cherry tomato mixture, canned tuna and diced canned artichokes. Season accordingly with salt and pepper.

It's really yummy and packs up nicely.
I often bring this to work with me along with some fresh fruit.

One of my favorite recipes on Food 52 is the Pan Bagnat tuna sandwich. Might need a kid with a pretty sophisticated palate, but if you make it the night before, it will be perfect at lunchtime.
