I agree with Judith - olive oil is the way to go - you just can't compare the flavor and if you use a good olive oil you won't have a problem with cranking the heat?

I love these little babies grilled but I use olive oil and sea salt lightly sprinkled.... Yumm!!

Canola oil has a slightly higher smoking point than olive. So you can really crank up the heat and get a nice char.
