mac and cheese is my comfort food and my version of a cheeseburger mac is good for whenever I have cravings. all the components of this dish can be made at the same time, as long as you can multitask! :)
in a skillet, ground beef and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and I also add a little bit of creole seasoning for some spice. drain and set aside
in a pot, cook the pasta of your choice (I like elbow macaroni)
while the pasta is cooking, you can make the bechamel sauce. add heavy cream, whole milk and flour and turn on the heat to medium high. (turn the heat on AFTER you've added these 3 ingredients. it will prevent lumps) whisk it for about 3-5 minutes until it thickens and add in 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese (or you can add 4 cups for extra cheesy-ness)! whisk until the cheese has melted and turn off the heat. season with salt and pepper to taste
by the time the bechamel sauce is done, the pasta should be done! I spoon the pasta straight from the pot into the bechamel sauce, but you can drain if you want to. once you add the pasta to the sauce, add the beef and stir until combined. season with more salt and pepper if needed. you can eat it by itself or serve with garlic bread! the bread cooks in the oven in the same amount of time it takes to make everything else!
ENJOY! :) #notcontest
