Choose you're favourite pasta and throw it in some heavily salted boiling water until cooked to your liking.

While the pasta is cooking, combine a handful of basil, a few cloves of garlic, pine nuts or walnuts, and some olive oil in a food processor. Pulse to combine and then season with salt and pepper. A squeeze of lemon juice is also a nice addition.

Adjust the pesto according to taste. If it's too thick, add a bit more olive oil, if it's too garlicky, add in some more basil. You really can't screw it up.

Strain the pasta and toss it in the pesto. It tastes great got but is also very enjoyable cold or at room temperature!
