Learning that homemade oatmeal can happen in the microwave has been a morning game changer! I read about it on the Fannetastic Food blog. The key is mashed ripe banana. For me, that's the only sweetener needed. To the banana, add equal parts milk of choice (or water when you're out of milk- like I did here! and rolled oats and a big dash of cinnamon. Microwave for about 3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Top with nuts, seeds, dried fruit, coconut, etc.

I use old fashioned rolled oats and it works for me. I haven't tried any other kinds but would be curious to know how they turn out!

Are you using par poked quick rolled oats or the larger, old-school rolled oats? (Is the oatmeal sorta gooey or more like cereal/individual pieces that don't stick?)
