This was my first attempt at the #smashburger #burger technique and it turned out absolutely amazing. Started with two small, loosely packed balls of 80/20 #groundbeef, seasoned with salt, got a large skillet to 500 degrees. Put down the balls and pressed them hard against the willer until flat, caramelizing the entire patty. One minute, flip, apply cheese, one minute and place on a toasted sesame bun with shredded romaine, sautéed onions, pickles, and a ketchup, mustard, and mayo sauce. Fries were homemade potato wedges, boiled, and then seasoned with salt, pepper, old bay, tossed in olive oil, and baked at 400 degrees turning over after 20 minutes.
This was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten and I can't wait to make it again!
