My mum's Gratin Dauphinois (Potato Gratin)
Rub dish with a garlic clove sliced in half and then butter. Slice Yukon gold potatoes using a mandolin and arrange in a thick first layer. Sprinkle salt, pepper and grated nutmeg. Repeat the layering process until you reach the top. Freshly grate some Gruyère on top and pour cream until it reaches an inch or so from the top. Bake for 1 hour or more at 400F.
