Sure, a citrus press is easier and less fussy, but I've always preferred my reamer. Especially for salads, to which I say, the more bracing the better (don't you just love the word bracing?). When I need a splash of lemon juice for a sauce, I ream the citrus over a baby fine mesh strainer. But for salads (like this one, with farmers market red kale) I brave the seeds (pick 'em out with my fingers) and do it right into the bowl. The best parts are the the juicy, segment-y bits that the reamer digs out. It makes those greens extra punchy!
