Rhubarb Preserves with Strawberry, Black Pepper and Tequila.
In a large heavy bottom sauce pan bring about 1" water to a boil and add equal amounts organic sugar & honey (adjust sweetness to taste). Simmer until fully dissolved. Add juice of 1/2 lemon, chopped rhubarb and strawberries (about twice as much rhubarb as berry) bring to a high simmer and allow to reduce to desired consistency and color deepens, stirring frequently. Add vanilla, several (about 8) turns of the pepper mill, 1 shot of tequila (or not!) and a pinch of sea salt. Simmer a while longer to allow alcohol to cook off.
