Braised short ribs are just needed sometimes - dust the short ribs in some seasoned flour and brown in a hot pan. Take it out and sauté some onions and carrots and reconstituted dried mushrooms. Once softened, add red wine and simmer to cook out some of them alcohol. Then add a can of whole tomatoes and some beef broth. Toss in a couple bay leaves and rosemary. Add the ribs back in and cover and let simmer on stovetop for about an hour or until softened. Midway through, you may want to add some of the mushroom water (from the reconstituted mushrooms) if it gets too dry.
